On Thursday the 5th of March 2020 we celebrated World Book Day at Woodstock School.
Many of us dressed up as our favourite books characters, including the staff. We had a beast, Oompa Loompa and even a Gangsta Granny.
In our whole school assembly we discussed the importance of sharing stories. Pupils shared ideas of how stories are told to educate, entertain and make others feels better. Mrs Garland then showed us how we could make our very own small book in class. We then had a parade and a judging panel who voted for the best character costume. We had lots of fun watching staff and pupils walk the catwalk.
After break we moved to different classes where we were listened to some of our favourite stories read by staff. These stories included Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Wizard of Oz and Fantastic Mr Fox.
In the afternoon Mrs Garland took our 3 ‘Best Costume’ winners to Waterstones where they chose a book as their prize. We had many members of the public comment on how fantastic our costumes were.
